  • Examine the theoretical basis for prevention, intervention, and treatment of substance use disorders and addiction through current research and literature.
  • Recognize and evaluate the effects of substance use on youth and families, including risk and protective factors.
  • Identify the impacts of personal values, stigma, prejudice, and bias in substance use prevention and treatment.
  • Examine use of effective crisis intervention models and strategies within the human services field, or other related professions.
  • Identify early intervention strategies that raise awareness on addiction and substance use disorders for youth and families.
