Academic Support & Registration

As you head into Final Exams, NKU has the resources and support you need to finish strong. 

  • Book a tutoring appointment with Learning PLUS.
  • Find writing assistance resources or make an appointment with the Writing Center.
  • Attend your faculty’s office hours (days and times are traditionally located on your course syllabus).
  • Need someone to talk to? Call or book an appointment with University Connect and Persist.

Supporting Health & Wellness

NKU is dedicated to supporting the health and wellness of our students and has established the following strategies to ensure students have access to wellness programming.

  • Campus Recreation Center is open, so one can stay active in the colder months.
  • Health, Counseling and Student Wellness is available for students to answer questions, perform COVID-19 testing and provide emotional support.
    • This includes on-call support over the winter break.
  • Therapy session fees at HCSW may be waived or reduced for the Spring 2022 Semester.

Affordability

We understand the continued financial burden COVID-19 has placed on you and your families. To help with college affordability, NKU has:

  • Continued to ensure tuition will remain unchanged for Spring 2022.
  • University scholarships remain unchanged through Spring 2022.
  • Continued to provide access to laptops, hotspots and other technology resources.

NKU has staff that can help students discuss affordability or financial concerns. Call or book an appointment with University Connect and Persist.

Food Insecurities

Fuel NKU, our donor funded, no-cost food pantry, is open for in-person shopping in the Albright Health Center. Hours and information (especially over University closures) are available on the FUEL NKU website.

Housing Insecurities

NKU works to connect students experiencing housing insecurity with regional resources. Updated connections to regional supports are available by visiting the Parents Attending College website

Emergency shelter is available in the region, too. Learn more by visiting Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky. For additional questions, call 859-291-4555 or email info@esnky.net; Located at 634 Scott Street, Covington, KY 41011. 

We also recommend that student experiencing such challenges notify the NKU Student Conduct, Rights, and Advocacy office by submitting a Community Care report on their website. This report will allow our staff to provide resources and connection to the University when the University is open.

Virtual OneStop for Student Success

Learning PLUS

The place to go for learning support, including tutoring, the writing center, and supplemental instruction. Located in UC 170 or by phone at (859) 572-5475.

Financial Assistance

Located in AC 416 (859) 572-5143, the Office of Financial Assistance can help with financial challenges so you can finish your degree. For questions related to billing and payments, visit Student Account Services.

Advising

Utilizing a student-centered approach, NKU views academic advising as a partnership between advisors and students to ensure not only timely completion of your degree, but intellectual and personal growth. Visit the Norse Advising site or the First-Year Student Success Hub to learn more or call (859) 572-6900 for assistance.

Health, Counseling, and Student Wellness

Visit the HCSW site for information on counseling and health services, vaccinations, and COVID-19 testing. Visit UC 440 or call (859) 572-5650.

University Connect and Persist

We help you navigate financial, academic, and personal challenges. Students who meet with UCAP are more likely to have higher GPAs and earn more credit hours. Call (859) 572-7527 or visit in UC 120.

IT Helpdesk

Get help with your technology questions and needs by calling 859-572-6911. IT also offers the Norse Tech Bar in the University Center for in-person assistance.

Adult Learner Programs & Services

A support and advising center for adult students. ALPS helps navigate the challenges of degrees, work, parenting so you can finish your education. Call us at (859) 572-5898.

Trio Student Support Services

TRIO Student Support Services is the place to go for support for first-generation college students from moderate and low-income families. Call us at (859) 572-5138 to learn more.

FUEL NKU

Visit FUEL NKU for free food and toiletry products, connections to campus and community resources, and peers who want to support fellow students. Connect with us via social media!

Norse Violence Prevention Center

The NVP Center is the place to go for advocacy services and prevention programming related to sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. Call at (859) 572-5865 or visit Albright Health Center 246.

Office for Student Accessibility

Visit the Office for Student Accessibility for empowerment and equal access through self-advocacy, reasonable accommodations, and student-centered assistance. Call at (859) 572-5282 or visit SU 303.

Steely Library

Visit Steely Library for help with research, finding textbooks and other course materials, and to reserve study and collaborative spaces.

Registrar

The University Registrar provides resources such as academic calendars, registration checklists, ordering transcripts and managing academic/personal information.

Career Services

Career Services operates as a centralized resource for the NKU community, providing excellent career-related programs, services, and resources. Located in UC 225 or by phone at (859) 572-5680.

Community Resources

NKU understands that students may need access to community resources to meet basic needs and well-being. Some of the resources provided on this Community Resource Guide may include but are not limited to rent and utility assistance, food resources, financial assistance, resources for parents, and more.

OneStop

NKU's physical One Stop location offers students all enrollment services in one easy location: Admissions, Financial Assistance, Student Employment, Registrar and Veteran Certification. Located in AC 301. (859) 572-5825
