Considering a business school? Here are two questions everyone, parents and students alike, should ask. First, will the school you select give you the best academic instruction (skills, knowledge, training) to be well-prepared for your profession? Most importantly, will it connect you with companies where you can apply your skills and training to launch your career?

Fortunately, for students of Northern Kentucky University's Haile College of Business, the answer to both these questions is yes. And, did you know that all that separates our students from one of the nation's largest cities, Cincinnati, Ohio, is just seven miles, a quick 15-minute drive? Our proximity to Cincinnati, and the many companies there, is what turns your college education into a career advantage.

Location Matters

Here at the Haile College of Business, you'll see students coming to class to learn from lectures, work on group projects, or ace their exam, and then head off to Cincinnati for their internship to apply what they've learned and gain new skills on the job. While rare at other schools, here at Haile College, this is just the way we do business.

Many Options for our Many Majors

We offer 13 majors that range from accounting to international business. Consider that if you study here at Haile, you can put your major to use well.

  • Accounting: Cincinnati is home to offices for the Big Four accounting firms: EY, PwC, Deloitte and KPMG.
  • Marketing or Sales: Cincinnati is home to Procter & Gamble, Kroger, 84.51, and several global and regional agencies and companies who have their own marketing departments.
  • Economics or Finance: Opportunities abound at Western & Southern, Great American Insurance, investment firms and a wide range of banking institutions
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship: The Greater Cincinnati/NKY region is quickly becoming an entrepreneurial ecosystem, with venture capitalists, SparkHaus, Cintrifuse, and Cincy Start-Up Week. Plus, our Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship is working to provide internships at many of the region's startups.
  • Global Supply Chain Management: Companies like Verst Logistics, Amazon, DHL, Chick-fil-A Supply, and Total Quality Logistics rely on a robust local logistics network—and our graduates are in demand to support it.

Proximity means Presence

While students prepare for their career, we provide them with opportunities to build their network through industry related events, mentorship programs, and guest speakers in classes and at our many student organizations. Our students generally don't need to relocate to complete their internship requirements and start their careers. Thanks to our strong alumni network, professionals come back to campus to share their experiences, wisdom, guidance and even hire the next generation of graduates.

Conclusion

When choosing a business school, it's important to select one that prepares you academically and connects you to the companies where your future will begin. Here at NKU's Haile College of Business students have ample places where they can put their education to work. Our students benefit from the relationships they make with employers, mentors and our strong alumni network. All this is just a few miles away from campus.
