About

The Art & Design Program offers an Integrative Media track for students interested in a cross-disciplinary approach to studio arts. This option draws upon already existing courses or courses that might be taught on an experimental basis in the program. With two advising faculty members from appropriate areas within art and design, a student writes a contract to combine studio areas at the 300 level or above to form an Integrated Media track. All contracts must be approved by the program head.

Students can be admitted to this track through the BFA Portfolio Review.
Further details can be found in the Art & Design Office FA 312.

Facilities

With both state of the art computer labs and dynamic studio spaces, we are wired for success with creative learning environments. Students have access to high quality input and output devices, including digital projectors, flatbed and slide scanners, and color and black-and-white laser printers. The labs are outfitted with the latest versions of industry-standard software.

Spatial Arts maintains a state of the art facility capable of supporting all manner of work including a foundry, metal shop, wheel throwing, mold making area, and wood shop. New Media Art area has a hybrid studio/computer lab, FA 305 which is equipped with 21 high perfromance computers an overhead video/computer theatre size projector and a 3D printer. A second digital lab serves as an open lab for advanced New Media Art students. The New Media Art area is at the cutting edge of technology and cinematography with studios to explore advanced production techniques, post production editing and interactive robotics.

Checklists & Procedures

BFA • Integrative Media Track

The BFA degree is the nationally accepted professional degrees in art and design. These degrees carry a high level of expected growth and involvement on the student’s part. BFA students are not required to earn a minor outside of art and design, so spend more time studying in studios. Upon completion of 60 semester hours* in the university and 27 semester hours in art, majors who intend to apply for admission to the BFA degree option should register for ART 297 Portfolio Review. ART 297 Portfolio Review is the mechanism for faculty to review student portfolios so they may be admitted into the BFA program. All BFA majors are guaranteed a senior exhibition at NKU.

Faculty

Students who choose this track work with faculty across multiple art and design disciplines. Here is a link to the full-time faculty in art and design.
