1st camp is the week of June 15th

2nd camp is the week of June 22nd

 

 

 

Nursing and Health Careers Camp is offered to high school students who are interested in a nursing and other healthcare professions. Students will spend the first 2 days experiencing life as a college student while exploring healthcare careers with current NKU students and faculty.  Days 3 and 4 will be spent shadowing healthcare professionals and observing many of the hospital units at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. 

 

The School of Nursing at NKU invites you to explore the following activities in our state-of-the art facilities:

  • Learn hands-on nursing skills and explore healthcare disciplines such as nursing, radiology, respiratory care are others.
  • Participate in real-life scenarios to provide "patient care' in our internationally accredited Simulation Center at NKU. 
  • Become familiar with the human body through virtual reality and a visit to the cadaver lab in the NKU Science Center.  
  • Experience campus life by staying one night in the NKU dorms and enjoying the Campus Recreation Center.
  • Get acquainted with the College of Health and Human Services and NKU.
Day three and four will be spent with St. Elizabeth Healthcare touring their facilities and shadowing nurses and other healthcare providers in various areas as determined by St. Elizabeth such as:
  • Emergency room
  • Labor and Delivery
  • Intensive Care

Nursing and Health Careers Camp is a popular program and is limited to a maximum of 30 participants per session.  Applications normally become availabe in mid-March and will be posted on this website.  

 

Nursing and Health Careers Camp is presented by Northern Kentucky University and St. Elizabeth Healthcare. The purpose of this activity is to expose high school students to the many career opportunities in the field of nursing and other healthcare professions and to encourage them to pursue such a career.
