Welcome!

Welcome to our resource page for site supervisors. We greatly appreciate the opportunities and supervision you provide for our students. The practicum and internship experiences are the cornerstone of counselor preparation which wouldn’t be possible without your partnership.

NKU is accredited by the Counsel for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). To serve as a site supervisor, CACREP (2016) requires site supervisors have:

(1) a minimum of a master’s degree, preferably in counseling, or a related profession; (2) relevant certifications and/or licenses; (3) a minimum of two years of pertinent professional experience in the specialty area in which the student is enrolled; (4) knowledge of the program’s expectations, requirements, and evaluation procedures for students; and (5) relevant training in counseling supervision.

To help new supervisors meet CACREP requirements we have provided an orientation and training for new supervisors. This training includes information on practicum and internship requirements, expectations for site supervisors, legal and ethical concerns, and an overview of counseling supervision. Once you have viewed the training, there is a 10-question quiz to document your completion of this requirement. You will receive an automated email with your quiz score after successful submission.
