In this new learning community, students interested in the creative and performing arts will explore connections between works of art and the real-world contexts in which artists make and share their creations. Starting with the premise that arts are necessary—as expressions of identity, as political statements, as entertainment, as comfort—we will consider some of the challenges and opportunities facing artists in our highly digitized and socially-distanced world. As we explore both timeless and timely issues, students will have opportunities to engage with professionals involved in local arts organizations.
