On April 13, the Haile/US Bank College of Business celebrated what makes us special, the hard work and talents of our brightest students, at the annual Spring Awards Luncheon.  Recognition was given to the most outstanding students in each discipline of the College, newly inducted Beta Gamma Sigma members, the Student Advisory Council, graduating Student Ambassadors and the Overall Outstanding Haile/US Bank College of Business Undergraduate Student.

The Overall Outstanding Haile/US Bank College of Business Undergraduate Award is the highest student honor bestowed by the Haile/US Bank College of Business.  In choosing the recipient, faculty nominate students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, leadership in extracurricular activities, and high potential for future leadership in the individual’s professional life, among other things.  Additionally, nominees must be sponsored by at least two faculty members from different disciplines.  The 2017-18 recipient of this coveted award is Diego Martinez del Campo.

A Monterrey, Mexico native, Diego came to NKU in 2014 on a scholarship to play for the men’s soccer team.  In spring 2017, after interning for FC Cincinnati as a team manager and as a game day operations staff member, Diego was offered a full-time position with the team.  “My interactions with Diego have always been positive.  It is apparent he is an intelligent young man with a good personality for the sports industry,” said Dan McNally, Vice President of Operations for FC Cincinnati. “He is confident in his own abilities and he demonstrates the capacity to listen and be respectful of fellow employees within an organization.  To this point, Diego has worked well within my operations team and I believe he will have a bright future.”

Many of Diego’s professors share similar sentiments, “In my extensive interactions with Diego, he has always conducted himself with the upmost professionalism, humility, and gratefulness for the opportunity to study at NKU,” said Joe Cobbs, an Associate Professor in the Sports Business & Event Management Department.  “In my opinion, he is exactly the student we should all be supporting as best we can to ensure his continued success.”
