The NKU Choral Program provides the opportunity for students of all disciplines to be involved in a variety of choral ensembles. The faculty working with the choral ensembles believe in not only the quality of the choral experience, but also the individual growth of the student. All ensembles are open to any student enrolled at NKU regardless of their major; non-majors are encouraged to participate. The current choral offerings include the Chamber Choir, Northern Chorale, and Women’s Choir.
The ensembles frequently present programs with and for elementary and secondary students from the region both on and off campus. Major convention and international competitions include: Busan International Choral Competition and Festival in Busan, South Korea, Kentucky Music Educator's In-Service Conference, and Sing! Cincinnati to name a few.
The Chamber Choir (MUSE 321) is the elite choral ensemble at NKU. The ensemble is open to any student enrolled at the university through audition. The ensemble specializes in the performance of challenging choral repertoire.
The Northern Chorale (MUSE 301) is the largest choral ensemble at NKU. The group is composed of both music majors and non-music majors; members go through an informal group audition for voice part placement. The Chorale performs a variety of literature throughout the year. The Chorale also combines with the other choral ensembles to perform a major choral/orchestral work each year.
