The Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Training course focuses on behavioral supports and interventions all school personnel can use to create a positive environment for teaching and learning and includes strategies for use in schools, classrooms, and with individual students.

This training is provided by the Kentucky Department of Education and produced by Kentucky Educational Television (KET). It responds to Kentucky Law 704 KAR 7:160 Use of Physical Restraint and Seclusion in Public Schools enacted on February 1, 2013, requiring all certified and non-certified school personnel in Kentucky to have annual training in the use of positive behavioral supports and interventions.

To complete the PBIS Training Course

  • Start by following this link: https://education.ket.org/resources/positive-behavior-in-schools/
  • Enter your ZIP code to see sections open for enrollment
  • Click on "Details/Enroll..."
  • Click on ENROLL in the top right corner of the screen.
  • If you are new to Learning Media programs, create an account by clicking "Sign Up". (When prompted, enter NKU's ZIP code which is 41099)
  • The program contains multiple modules. Each module must be completed before moving to the next module.
Each module contains a review quiz that must be completed succesfully. After passing all module reviews, you will be presented with a certificate of completion at the end of the training course. Save an electronic copy of this for your personal files. Be prepared to present a physical copy of the certificate to your instructor and the principal at your field or clinical experience site.
