Introducing the entrepreneurial mindset to high school students

JumpStart is a program designed for high school students that sparks their entrepreneurial passion. Our hands-on program has students travel to NKU's campus to work on ideation, team-building, opportunity validation and pitching, while covering the basics on business through activities, engagement, and applied-learning. Whether a student's focus is computer science, green engineering or graphic design, we teach how to best understand a customer-focused business model approach and identify problems as opportunities.

   Additional High School Programs

The Governor's School for Entrepreneurs (GSE) identifies and enables Kentucky high school students to become the Commonwealth's next generation of entrepreneurs. Through a three-week residential experience, GSE participants are: introduced to KY's most successful entrepreneurs and fastest growing businesses, equipped with the tools and skills to create and build their own businesses, and matched with complementary skilled peers to develop business plans and product or service prototypes.

In addition, as a direct result of their participation in GSE, participants qualify for nearly $3 million in scholarships from Kentucky's universities and colleges.

The Lieutenant Governor's Entrepreneurship Challenge (LGEC) is a statewide contest created by Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton to encourage Kentucky high school students to explore innovative business ideas. Administered by the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation, the annual contest awards nearly $250,000 total for in-state scholarships.
