Degree Awarded: B.S. in Statistics

Statistics is the science of learning from data, whether those data come from biology, economics, engineering, medicine, public health, psychology, marketing, sports, or education. The major in statistics offers students the breadth and depth of knowledge necessary to attain various career objectives in many different fields.

CAREER PATHS

NKU graduates in mathematics and statistics have gone on to become:

  • High school and college mathematics teachers
  • Mathematicians, scientists and engineers
  • Actuaries
  • Statisticians
  • Specialists in operations research and management science

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH

Working on research projects is a great way to get valuable experience. A key objective of the research is to show students that exposure to mathematics and statistics can provide them with the skills to solve problems in a wide range of fields. Many students are asked to present their findings at professional meetings and some co-author papers.
