Unlocking the Future with Artificial Intelligence Academy

Learn about artificial intelligence and experience it first hand! In this summer academy, we explore what AI is and isn't, and what it can and can't do. We'll cover AI through a series of short lectures with students gaining first-hand experience using AI programming languages, tools, and applications. At the end of the week, we explore the ethics of AI and what the future might hold. Computer programming experience is NOT required.

*If a student wants to participate in this academy and BRAIN Academy, the lunch period experiences will be coordinated.

Description

BRAIN (Best Research Academy in Neuroscience) Academy

How does your cell phone affect your attention span? Is your left brain or right brain more active during stress? How can you prevent test anxiety? NKU BRAIN will provide opportunities for high school students to conduct neuroscience experiments that are directly relevant to their personal lives, including learning how to conduct EEGs. Participants will get hands on experience dissecting and quantifying differences in animal brains, from fruit flies to humans. They will also use NKU’s Neuroscience teaching and research labs to develop and conduct neurochemistry, neuroanatomy and neurobehavior experiments under the supervision of the NKU Director of Neuroscience.

*If a student wants to participate in this academy and Unlocking the Future with AI Academy, the lunch period experiences will be coordinated.

Description

Cybersecurity Academy

As a beginners' cybersecurity academy for high-school students, this NKU CINSAM in-person program will immerse participants in an intensive five-day cybersecurity education-based experiential learning and professional development experience at a beginner's level. The aim is to provide participants with an introductory knowledge base and initial set of resources on cybersecurity education. The program goals are: (1) increasing participant knowledge about essential cybersecurity topics, concepts and ethics, and (2) educating and inspiring participants to pursue further options & opportunities of cybersecurity education. The camp curriculum will be designed, developed and delivered by an experienced NKU faculty member, who is the current Director of the NKU Center for Information Security, and specializes in cybersecurity education plus outreach.

Are you a high school student with a passion for exploring the field of Engineering? If you're curious about the intricacies of electric circuits and eager to delve into the realms of digital and analog circuits, this week-long camp is designed just for you! Immerse yourself in hands-on, interactive engineering projects that cover a spectrum of electrical and electronics engineering concepts. From crafting circuits to assembling motors, and comprehending the functioning of Arduinos and microcontrollers, this camp offers a comprehensive exploration of these technologies. Unleash your creativity through engineering designs and discover the fascinating world of electrical and electronics engineering.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

If you cancel before the standard registration date (two weeks before the start of the program), you will receive a refund minus the $25 non-refundable registration fee. Cancellations after the standard registration date are non-refundable.

Registration Deadlines

Two (2) weeks before the camp or academy start date.

Scholarship Policy

Scholarships are available for up to two camps/academies per child for families who qualify for free or reduced lunches. In order to apply for this scholarship, families must submit proof of qualification for free/reduced lunch at the time of registration. Scholarships will cover the full cost of the camp/academy minus a $25 seat-holding fee, which must be paid with registration.

Additionally, this sponsorship allows CINSAM to offer scholarships to low-income students who meet the requirements for the "Free & Reduced Meal" programs in KY, IN and OH.
