WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

The Master of Science in Computer Information Technology transcends basic IT principles and prepares students to make a deeper impact on the IT workplace. Graduates move beyond mere doing and are equipped to teach, lead, and create.

The MSCIT program has a STEM designated CIP code, so F-1 visa students may qualify for the 17-month Optional Practical Training extension. For more information see http://isss.nku.edu/oissf1/f1employ.html

NO IT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The MSCIT program is intended for students with various backgrounds. It welcomes students with Bachelor degrees in IT who want to refine and consolidate their knowledge, or seek an advanced degree for career enhancement, and students with different Bachelor degrees (other than IT), with various levels of IT experience, who understand the increased demand for IT occupations and want to shift their career path.

FLEXIBLE COURSE OFFERING

The MSCIT program is accessible and conveniently scheduled for full-time professionals. Most classes are offered in the evening. Classes are also offered in an accelerated, hybrid, and/or online format!

IT CAREER PREPARATION

IT jobs are in high demand locally and nationally with projected increases for at least the next 10 years. The MSCIT program is specifically designed to meet this growing demand and it is centered firmly on IT principles and technologies. Potential careers include: cloud administrator, network and computer systems administrator, database administrator, forensic and cybersecurity specialist, and IT project manager.

 

Career Paths

The Master of Science in Computer Information Technology goes beyond just technology and will cultivate a deep insight into contemporary I.T. so graduates can teach, lead and create. Careers in this field include advanced positions such as: Network Systems Administrator, Web Administrator, Database Administrator, and Computer Security Specialist
