The primary mission of Parents Attending College is to help support student parents who are receiving KTAP assistance as they navigate their tenure at NKU. If you are a new NKU student or to the Parents Attending College office, our coordinator is available for assistance during the application phase to become a KTAP recipient. Once you are enrolled, you will have access to many resources and services.

As a KTAP recipient, you will be able to access individualized case management services with the Parents Attending College coordinator. Primary assistance with our case management will be through establishing employment opportunities to help meet work guidelines for KTAP.

Additional case management services may include coordination with your KTAP Case Manager through DCBS, other NKU staff or departments, and/or other professionals involved with your status as a parent attending college. Examples can include, but are not limited to:

  • Professors/Faculty;
  • Academic Advisers;
  • Work-study Supervisors;
  • Mental Health Professionals;
  • etc.

Students can also be referred to other services within the community.

Student parents attending NKU who are not a part of KTAP Scholars have other supports, ervices, and programs available to them through Parents Attending College. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Access to support groups and monthly workshops that allow you to connect with other parents attending college;
  • Eligibility to participate in the Holiday Help program offered in December of each year; and,
  • Invitation to other campus events hosted by Parents Attending College.

Please check out Campus Resources and Community Resources to find out more about possible support services available to all student parents.

For more information on any of these services, please contact Karis Hawkins, the Coordinator of PAC at hawkinsk9@nku.edu. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:15a until 4:30p (excluding University holidays).
