This year, the event will take place on September 25 - 28 with keynote speaker, Thane Maynard, Director of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. There will be breakout speaker sessions, 90+ hiring employers, a luncheon celebration and more!
On Wednesday, September 27 and Thursday, September 28 all College of Business classes will be canceled to allow students to participate in the two-day business-centered conference.
Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard is internationally known for his dedication to wildlife preservation, research and education. He has authored more than a dozen books, the most recent, “Hope For Animals & Their World,” was coauthored with Jane Goodall. He has also shared science and environmental news via his nationally-syndicated radio program, “The 90-Second Naturalist,” since 1987.
Maynard’s travels to promote biological diversity, natural history and wildlife conservation have spanned five continents and earned him a membership in the Explorers Club. He is an active member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Margo Marsh Biodiversity Foundation, a primate conservation fund headquartered in Washington, D.C.Born and raised in central Florida, Thane earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fl., and his master’s degree in wildlife ecology from the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources.
He is also a graduate of the Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program at the Harvard Business School, as well as the first National Education Leadership Institute sponsored by WWF and Disney.

Lance Vaught started as an intern with Penn Station in 2003 and has since held every position within the Operation and Training departments before assuming the President position in January of 2022. In his career, he has been an integral part of the Penn Station brand growing it to more than 325 locations in 15 states. Under Vaught’s leadership the brand has earned many of the industry’s highest accolades such being voted America’s Best Sandwich by Nation’s Restaurants News, Fast Casual.com Top 100 Movers and Shakers, Franchise Business Review’s prestigious Top Franchises List, and has been a mainstay in Training Magazine’s Top 100 Training Apex list for top training and development programs in the world. For his efforts he was recognized as a member of QSR Magazine’s exclusive 16 Young Leaders to Watch.
Vaught’s ties to the University have continued since graduating Cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in management and minor in business administration in 2006. He proudly served four years on the University’s Alumni Board of Directors where he was the Co-Chair of the Alumni Membership Committee and served as Member of the Student Career Development Committee. Lance has served as a guest speaker at Business Week and for the talented students taking part in the Eva G. & Oakley Farris Leadership Academy.
