All successful professionals, decisionmakers, managers, academics, and engaged citizens draw on earlier research and revise earlier writing to reflect their changing thinking about their spheres of influence and to communicate that thinking to otheres.

For your fourth paper, you will expand your research and thinking on a 4-6 page paper you have already written to create a better informed, well-researched essay of 8-12 pages. You will build on what you have already learned about persuasion, audience, rhetoric, and reasoning in the process.

Regardless of your topic, your position must be clear, specific, and presented in a manner that builds upon common ground you establish with your audience.

Your paper must be 8-12 pages in length (2000-3000 words), typed in a standard 10-12 point font, with one inch margins all around. You must use appropriate research to ensure that your argument is sound and that it reaches the audience you seek to persuade.

A passing paper will do the following:

• Have a clear and specific thesis statement that is narrow in focus and which proposes a specific response to a question that is at issue for a specific audience
• Have well-developed ideas that are coherently organized
• Have ideas supported by evidence
• Adhere to MLA format
