Personal

I earned my Ph.D from Kent State University, and I have lived in Ohio since 1981. Originally, I am from Srirangam, a temple town in the state of Tamil Nadu in India which has the largest functional temple complex in the world. Walking alone through the trails of Sharon Woods, which is only a mile from my home, is my favorite activity - it has two beautiful trails that are only moderately strenuous and are within the range of my abilities (picture shown here). My wife Usha is a professional singer of Carnatic music and teaches a few children. My daughter, Shriya, is an engineering graduate of the Princeton University - Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering. She is now a Vice-President in the fixed income division at Morgan Stanley. She lives with her husband Neel in the New York City.

I am passionate about photography and own a Canon T1i camera and a collection of lenses. The photograph on the left was taken by me with my I-phone. You do not need expensive cameras to shoot pictures that you like!

Rain water harvesting in a small scale with just one barrel that I personally installed, growing three grapevines over our backyard arbor, composting food, and yard waste, and growing vegetables organically using non GMO seeds are my other recent interests. I was very involved in sound engineering and I have helped non-profit organizations manage live sound for their events in the past.
