Report Creation
Report Wizard - simplest way to create report design
Report window - used to modify report created by wizard to your exact specs.

Report Sections
- Report Header
- print once at beginning

- rectangles appearing on report in design mode

Changing Properties
Property sheet - list of control properties that can be modified
to produce property sheet, right-click control, then click Properties on shortcut menu
Grouping in a Report
Grouping - arranges records in report that share common characteristics
2 Types of Sections:
1.
Group header - printed before
records in particular group
2.
Group Footer - printed after each
group of records (
subtotals common in
footer)
Moving and Resizing Controls
To move, resize, delete, or modify a control click it, sizing handles appear
Move - point to boundary away from sizing handle, drag control (hand shaped mouse)
Resize - drag one of control's sizing handles
can move or resize several controls at same time by selecting them before dragging (hold down SHIFT-key click multiple controls to select)
Report Design Considerations:
Provide specific information - meanings of rows and columns must be clear, column captions easily understood, abbreviations
Allow sufficient space between groups
Do not overuse different fonts and sizes
Be consistent stick to a general style
4 Types of Form Controls
Bound controls - used to display data that comes from database
Attached label - portion of screen to left of field identifying field
Unbound controls - not attached to data used for titles and headings
Calculated controls - used to display data that is calculated from the data in database
Form Design Considerations:
Don’t clutter excessively (too many different effects(colors, fonts,etc))
Place fields in logical groupings
If source of data on paper, make form format as close to paper as possible
Publishing to Web
Access provides capability of creating a version of datasheet, form, or report to the Web
The process of creating such a version is referred to as publishing to the Web.
Publish to the Web Wizard - tool in Access that assists you in this process
