Marti Sinclair

Marti Sinclair obtained her Masters Degree in Zoology at Colorado State University and did laboratory research for a decade.

In 1992, while on a break to raise her children, she learned of a proposed hazardous waste incineration facility in the Oklahoma town where her family had settled. Her investigation led to six years of grassroots organizing and, eventurally, to state and national environmental work.

In 1997, the family moved to Cincinnati. Ms. Sinclair has assumed a position as a national volunteer leader for the Sierra Club, a national environmental organization with 600,00 members.

Ms Sinclair drafted Environmental Justice Principles for the Club and shepherded them through the 4 year approval process; they were approved by the Sierra Club Board of Directors this February.

In addition to local environmental work, Ms. Sinclair is currently Co-Chair of the Sierra Club's "Pollution Team" and oversees the Club's national policy related to pollution issues, environmental justice, and corporate accountability.
