What can we say about mapping?

- It is an important, and largely unnoticed, aspect of modern life.
- Mapping plays a role in areas unsuspected by most people, such as audio- and image-processing, medical data, and any kind of estimation in the absence of data.
- The Method Makes the Map: or, to put it another way, different methods, different maps. Good maps are hard to make.
- Good mapping is done by determining how trust-worthy neighbors are,
and then paying them attention commensurate with that trust.
