Israel's behavior is criminal

NB: This was written as I prepared to go to Haiti on Sabbatical, August 2006.

They're going "Old Testament" on the Canaanites of Lebonan. Once again Israel demonstrates that they can't do anything in a measured, reasonable way; they are engaged in indiscriminate bombing of civilians, even targeting civilians. Israel blew up a UN post today (7/25/2006) -- incompetence? indifference? intention? It's no good, in any event. They behave badly, and the US administration supports them -- two bad tastes that taste bad together (the anti-Reeses cup).

"Israel's attacks on bridges, roads, power plants, factories, airports, TV towers, telephone networks, fuel storage facilities, ports, and even a Procter & Gamble warehouse seem more like indiscriminate collective punishment than a coherent military strategy." (Kentucky Post editorial, 7/25/2006)

Yet Bush effectively endorses their behavior. "No cease fire until Hezbollah is disarmed" -- when do you suppose that that will be?! Once again, our President's nonsense shines: his administration suggested that our adventure in Iraq would lead to Peace in the Middle East. He also complained bitterly about "Nation-building" (e.g. this quote from a debate).

The maniac certainly isn't nation-building; but who would have thought that he was going to undertake this fantastic mission of nation-destroying?
