Cliff Long's Health Update (as of 4/9/96)

I am now in my ninth month of chemotherapy and will soon be undergoing a few tests to see whether or not this therapy is slowing up the cancer. If so, then it will be continued, but not quite as frequently. Last month, I received a drug just recently approved for multiple myeloma patients, which should help with bone problems often associated with this form of cancer.

On a daily basis, I seem to be on somewhat of a plateau, healthwise - one which I can handle. I have some back pain, but pain pills take care of most of the problem. So aside from moving at a slower pace than I might prefer, I'm doing OK.Now that the weather is nicer, I hope to get a little more exercise

Thanks for your best wishes and other support over the past months. Your friendship and continued concern is greatly appreciated and along with wonderful support from my family is what has kept me going. I'm still involved in mathematics, but not teaching at this time. I look forward to each new day and hope that you are enjoying them to the fullest.

Here's the history on this thing: the problem, the first update., and the second update.
