• Today: Finishing the normal distribution, and starting sampling

  • I added a few days to your IMath assignment deadline (until next Tuesday).
  • You have a new IMath assignment (due next Friday).
  • We'll have a quiz at the end of the hour, over packet 1.

• Let's finish up Packet 1: the normal distribution.
  • We will need the Standard Normal Table of probabilities for some of our work today.

• Now let's get to Packet 2: Definitions, and Summarizing Categorical Data
  • If you don't have your Packet, just take out some paper and make notes that you can use to transfer to your packet when you DO get it printed out.

    • Load the Stop and Frisk Data for packet 2. Load it by "WWW address", and make sure to set the delimiter to "comma" (because this is a "csv" (comma-separated values) file.
    • Once the data is loaded, click on "Graph" or "Table".
    • Alternatively, you may want to join my "group" on Statcrunch. That way you can access the data more quickly. It's Sta205-Long, if you want to add yourself into that group.
