It's actually not tricolorable, but some of you assumed that you could change color at "the bends" -- where the strand appears folded. This isn't an intersection, however.... However I took your reading into account.
Note that this student then uses a couple of Reidemeister moves to transform the link into another form, which is not tricolorable!:) So that would be an indication that something is amiss....
