The roots of a quadratic equation are the x- intercepts. So this question is asking you to find the x- intercepts of a quadratic function without having the equation. Instead, you will use information on the location and direction of the graph. In this case the vertex is (3, -1), which lies below the x-axis. Because the parabola opens downward and its highest point, the vertex, lies below the x-axis, the quadratic function in question never intersects the x-axis. Thus, there are no real roots.
