Linear Function Problem 3

Incorrect!

Tutorial to help us answer problem 3.

In this problem, we are looking for the x and y coordinates that define the y-intercept of a given linear function.

By definition, the x-coordinate of the y intercept is 0 because points lying on the y-axis.

To find the y-coordinate, we look at the equation in slope-intercept form,

y = mx + b,

where b is the y-intercept.

In this problem, we look at the y-intercept of a linear equation in slope-intercept form,

y = 4x -12,

So we can readily see that b = 12.

Therefore, the line must intersect the y-axis at the point (0, -12).
