Day 31: Heart of Mathematics

Today:
- Collect Problem Assignment #3: section 4.3 problems
- Project Assignment:
  1. by next Friday: schedule a time to meet with me to discuss your project.
  2. December 5 (four Friday's hence): your paper is due. You will get your poster boards this day (although you are not constrained by the board - you can be very creative!).
- Another note on solids:
  - Archimedean Polyhedra (my globe!)
- What is "rubber sheet geometry"? How can we characterize it?
- The examples in the text:
  - The vest
  - The ring
  - The jello
- The button problem (I.3), from your kit
- The handcuffs (problem I.7)
- If there's time, we'll look at the other problems:
  - I.1
  - I.4 - silver dollar with a hole
  - I.5
  - I.6
