I am happy to announce that the Board of Regents has selected Ashish Vaidya to serve as the sixth president of Northern Kentucky University. He is expected to assume the role on July 1, 2018.
Ashish is currently serving as Interim President at St. Cloud State University. We knew what we wanted in our next leader – someone who reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of NKU. I feel confident that Ashish is that person. In my conversations with Ashish, it’s clear he will be a dynamic leader who will champion our causes and build on our strong foundation.
This was an exhaustive eight-month search process, and I want to personally thank the faculty, staff, students and community members who served tirelessly on our search committee. I would also like to thank everyone on campus for your participation and patience during the search.
We committed to a process that would deliver us the best possible president for NKU, and under Ashish’s leadership, our future will be unstoppable.
We have much to be excited about in 2018—our 50th Anniversary, the opening of the Health Innovation Center, the establishment of the St. Elizabeth/University of Kentucky College of Medicine campus to name a few. We can now add welcoming Ashish to our campus community to that list.
In the meantime, I want to thank Interim President Gerry St. Amand for his steady leadership during our presidential transition. We are fortunate to have Gerry and so many others like him here at NKU who are committed to furthering our university’s mission.
I will be in touch soon with more information about next steps and our plans to formally welcome Ashish to campus in the spring.
