Students walking up stairs

We are proud that you have chosen to become a member of our growing NKU family! In order to assist you with your transition to NKU (aka Norsification), all new students are required to attend Northern Exposure: Orientation*. This is a 1-day program, educating you on the many services that Northern Kentucky University has to offer. In addition to learning more about NKU, this orientation program will answer questions you may have about college and help you begin to build a strong success network at NKU. Sample Schedule (pdf)

Veterans have the option to attend a veteran-specific track that is embedded in each of the two programs listed below. The veteran track includes such information as on-campus veteran resources, information about your veteran benefits, how they apply to your account, and more.

By definition, a post-traditional student is one or more of the following:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Married, divorced or widowed
  • Has parental responsibilities
  • Served at least six months in the military
  • Listed as a veteran

*Advising and course registration is NOT included as part of the orientation program for post-traditional or veteran students. You are eligible to be advised and register as soon you have been accepted to the university, and confirm your enrollment. Once you have paid the $75 Enrollment Confirmation Fee, you may contact your advisor and make an appointment. We encourage you to do so as soon as possible!
