HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. Northern Kentucky University has named Gina Rittinger assistant vice president for marketing and communications, effective March 20.

Rittinger previously served as director of corporate communications and marketing at General Cable, where she led the development, implementation, execution, and ongoing refinement of branding, marketing, and corporate communication strategies and materials in partnership with the company’s executive leadership.

“This is an exciting time to join my alma mater,” said Rittinger. “With the men’s basketball team winning the Horizon League Tournament and making our first-ever NCAA Tournament, the construction of the Health Innovation Center, and our 50th anniversary on the horizon, this is NKU’s time. It is truly my honor to serve the University that helped shape my personal and professional development, as well as inspire our students to have a positive impact on progress and growth within our society.”

As assistant vice president, Rittinger will oversee the University’s marketing strategy; branding; licensing and merchandising; internal and external communication; web, digital, and social media; publications, graphic design, and specialty printing; and photography.

“Gina brings a depth and breadth of experience leading marketing and communications for a complex international brand,” said Eric Gentry, NKU vice president for university advancement. “Like so many of our students, Gina was a first-generation college student who worked full-time to pay for college. She is an example of this University’s lasting impact. With her vision, leadership, and passion for this University, she will play an integral part in helping to take NKU to the next level.”

Prior to her tenure at General Cable, Rittinger was an account executive at RGI Design, Inc. She is a member of a number of professional organizations including the Corporate Communications Accelerator and the Association of Women in the Metal Industries.

Rittinger received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Northern Kentucky University.
