HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University chapter of Phi Beta Lambda brought home 10 national awards from the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Ga. June 24-27.

The PBL National Leadership Conference provides college students with the opportunity to develop leadership and professional skills at various locations throughout the United States by taking examinations, giving presentations, or competing in academic events over multiple business related disciplines. NKU students have attended the conference and earned national awards each of the last three years.

This year, 14 students from NKU attended the conference for Professional Business Leaders of America, which hosted more than 1,800 PBL members, advisors and guests.

The Haile/US Bank College of Business PBL chapter received ten finishes in the top 10 in the nation in topics such as Business Decision Making, Retail Management, and Financial Concepts.  As a state, Kentucky PBL also made a big impression, winning a total of 28 national awards between all PBL chapters.

“I am very excited for our students, who performed at a high level and represented Northern Kentucky University well,” said Frank Robinson, the Assistant Director of the College of Business Advising Center and PBL advisor.  “This is the most academically talented group of students that I have had the privilege of working with so far. It is great not only to see our students winning awards, but also building professional skills that go beyond the classroom from this experience.”

PBL members who placed at the state level are eligible to attend the National Leadership Conference to compete with other PBL students from around the country.
