HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University will celebrate National Distance Learning Week Nov. 10-14 by hosting online information sessions for future students, offering contests and tips for current students, and providing access to training materials for faculty. During this week, all applications fees to online programs will also be waived.
Almost half of all college students take least one online course each year. Acknowledging the trend and ready to meet student needs for a more flexible educational experience, NKU’s online learning program offers nine undergraduate, six graduate, and eight certificate programs to more than 1,200 students.
The program’s reach is expansive, including a bachelor’s degree in history, one of the few completely online, fully accredited programs in the country.
In addition to serving over 800 students from the state of Kentucky, NKU enrolls online students from all over the U.S. Regardless of location, online coursework allows students the flexibility to further their education while working full time or supporting a family.
Claire Clouse, a student working on her Masters of Science in Nursing, completed part of her coursework while on a medical mission trip in El Salvador. For Ms. Clouse, online learning means being able to continue working on her degree while serving in a location where medical treatment is desperately needed.
“Having NKU’s support, as a working woman and student, means a lot,” Ms. Clouse said. “It’s been very encouraging. The level of communication I’ve received meant I felt supported personally and professionally.”
NKU is committed to providing the same attention and connection in its distance learning provides as in its classroom programs. Online courses are designed to meet and exceed industry standards in course delivery and faculty take advantage of professional development opportunities in distance learning throughout the year.
