HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University Office of LGBTQ Programs and Services will present the inaugural LGBTQ Norse Pride Week April 21-26 with events and activities scheduled all week long.
The week will begin with Trans* Ally Training on Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. in Room 302 of the Votruba Student Union.
Shortly thereafter, the inaugural Pride March will begin in the Kenton Drive circle near the Student Union. First Lady Jennifer Mearns will serve as grand marshal of the march, which will begin at noon and navigate through campus, ending at the Oakley and Eva G. Farris Amphitheater. A pride festival will take place in the amphitheater from 12:15-3 p.m., featuring words from invited speakers, music by NKU alumna DJ Planet Venus, information tables with campus and community partners, and a picnic lunch.

Tuesday, April 22
7 p.m., University Center Otto Budig Theater – Shane Bitney Crone will present a free public conversation about and screening of the acclaimed documentary Bridegroom. Wednesday, April 23
8:30-10 a.m., Student Union 107B/C – Diversity dialogue titled “Queer Identities and Intersectionality: A Conversation About Being Queer on NKU’s Campus.” The free event will be facilitated by Meredith Smith, co-director of the NKU Women’s and Gender Studies Program. Breakfast will be provided, but seating is limited, so RSVP to email@example.com.
Thursday, April 24
7 p.m., Student Union 102 – National spoken-word artist Katie Wirsing returns to campus to host a free public Pride Week Open Mic Night. Students, faculty/staff, and alumni will perform during the first half of the program and Wirsing will close out the show. Gourmet coffees and pastries will be provided for this incredible evening of artistry and poetry. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Friday, April 25
7-9 p.m., Student Union Ballroom – “Drag Me to Vegas! The Bi-Annual Spring Drag Show,” presented by Common Ground and hosted by Crystyle Starr. Tickets are $3 in advance and $5 at the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 26
12:30 p.m., Griffin Hall lawn – Rainbow Road 5K with the Mowgli’s. Registration forms can be picked up in Student Union 327. Check-in begins at 10 a.m. $5 with NKU All-Card, $10 without All-Card. After-party featuring The Mowgli’s.
