NKU to host free public reading by poet and publisher Rusty Morrison April 1

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University and Xavier University will co-sponsor a free public reading and book signing by award-winning poet and publisher Rusty Morrison on Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. in the NKU Steely Library Second Floor Eva G. Farris Reading Room.

Morrison’s “Beyond the Chainlink” (Ahsahta) was published in January 2014. Her book “After Urgency” won Tupelo’s Dorset Prize. “Book of the Given” is available from Noemi Press. “the true keeps calm biding its story” won Ahsahta's Sawtooth Prize, the Academy of American Poet’s James Laughlin Award, the Northern California Book Award, and the Di Castagnola Award from the Poetry Society of America.

Her “Whethering” won the Colorado Prize for Poetry. Morrison has also received the Bogin, Hemley, Winner, and DiCastagnola Awards from the Poetry Society of America. Her poems and essays have appeared in A Public Space, American Poetry Review, Aufgabe, Boston Review, Kenyon Review, Lana Turner, Pleiades, Poem-A-Day from the Academy of American Poets, The Volta’s Trash Issue, and elsewhere.

Morrison’s poems were anthologized in the Norton Postmodern American Poetry Second Edition, “The Arcadia Project: Postmodern Pastoral, Beauty is a Verb,” and elsewhere. She is also co-publisher of Omnidawn Publishing.
