Dr. Hart’s article was titled “Message Content and Sources During Organizational Socialization.”
“I am deeply honored by this award,” Dr. Hart said. “It recognizes the importance of how messages are communicated during the transition, training and development of new employees.”

Dr. Hart’s research focuses on the nature and impact of messages communicated to newcomers during organizational socialization. He is currently investigating the impact of socialization training on workers with disabilities. He also studies the sensemaking process during doctor-parent prenatal communication about genetic disorders. His research has been published in international, national and regional communication and disability studies journals.
Dr. Hart received his Ph.D. in Organizational Communication from Michigan State University, his M.S. in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his B.A. in Mass Communication from Western Illinois University.
