HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University Office of LGBTQ Programs and Services will kick off the celebration of LGBTQ History Month on Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a free public launch party at the Oakley and Eva G. Farris Amphitheater followed by an open house of the office from 1-3 p.m.
In celebration of LGBTQ History Month, a series of events and programs will be offered to NKU students, staff and interested community partners throughout October.
The launch will feature live music by local musicians Linda and Taryn at the amphitheater stage, free popcorn and the information about some of the programs, services and resources this new office will offer. Several university partners and allies will have information tables set up.
The LGBTQ Programs & Services open house will feature a free ice cream sundae bar in the Student Union outside suite 309. Bonnie Meyer, director of LGBTQ Programs & Services, will be joined by students, faculty, staff and administrators and available to answer questions.
The Office of LGBTQ Programs and Services was created this year to offer support to NKU students, staff and faculty who identify with the LGBTQ community. The office promotes an equitable and safe environment for student success regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
