HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Community Connections will host its eighth annual Spirit Days with the fifth grade students from Northern and Southern elementary schools in Pendleton County from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 27 and 28.

Spirit Day offers a taste of college to elementary students. This special event includes participation by NKU student leaders, faculty and staff as they integrate arts, humanities, science, math and other academic components with student life and NKU enthusiasm.

This year’s Spirit Days will include presentations by the NKU Anthropology Museum and workshops presented by faculty in the departments of chemistry, history and English. This year will also feature two new breakout sessions: Body Percussion presented by NKU music education students and an art workshop also presented by NKU students. The visiting students will also view shows in the Haile Digital Planetarium.

Community Connections is dedicated to fostering a commitment to attain a postsecondary education in the minds of elementary and middle school students and their parents. The younger the child is when exposed to college, the better the chances that a student will incorporate college into his/her lifelong goals.

If you or your department is interested in participating in our P-12 outreach programs or for more information, please contact us at (859) 572-5600 or email connect@nku.edu.
