Dr. Sandra Spataro Earns
NKU MBA Pathfinder Award

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Dr. Sandra Spataro, associate professor of management and a professor in the elite, reimaged Northern Kentucky University Master of Business Administration program, has received the NKU MBA Pathfinder Award for Excellence in Teaching and Leadership.

Dr. Spataro pioneered the reimaged program in its inaugural semester, creating challenging yet exciting coursework while dealing with the exigencies often associated with a redesigned program. She has received outstanding evaluations from her students as well as high praise from her fellow MBA faculty and colleagues.

“The first person teaching in the program is critical to all future successes,” said Dr. Richard Kolbe, dean of the NKU Haile/US Bank College of Business. “Sandra certainly set the bar high for all involved. She earned this prestigious award for stepping up to the challenge and hitting it out of the ballpark.”

Dr. Spataro holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics and sociology, respectively, from Stanford University. She received her Ph.D. in organizational behavior from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research examines status and influence processes in organizations, demographic diversity and organizational cultures. Her work has been published in various journals in management and psychology. In addition, she has published a book, titled “Unstuck: A tool for yourself, your team and your world,” co-authored with Keith Yamashita of SYP Partners consulting.

Prior to her work in academia, Dr. Spataro worked for several years at Oracle Corporation in California in various staff and line positions.
