For immediate release…
Monday – Nov. 5, 2012
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University will host a free public presentation by PostSecret founder Frank Warren on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in the James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union Ballroom.
PostSecret is a community art project Warren created in 2004 in which people mailed in their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard. Every Sunday, selected secrets were posted on the PostSecret website for everyone to see. The idea behind the project was that individuals could identify with strangers and find their own answers within the secrets of others.
The NKU Activities Programming Board is hosting a competition that will let students submit their own secrets, which can range from regrets and fears to betrayals, desires and confessions. Secrets will be posted anonymously to a special Facebook page, and NKU students can vote on the best secrets. The secret with the most "likes” will win a signed book.
Secrets can be submitted to APB President Tina Hoesl (email@example.com) or APB Director of Public Relations Channel Karr (firstname.lastname@example.org). Only they will ever know who submitted NKU secrets. The deadline to submit secrets is Nov. 9 at noon.
On Nov. 13, Warren will reveal inspiring and funny stories behind some of the secrets his project has uncovered. Warren will also discuss some special secrets that couldn’t be published and copies of the New York Times bestseller “PostsSecret: Confessions on Life, Death and God” will be available for purchase and signing.
The presentation is free to all NKU students with an All-Card. Students can pick up tickets in the Student Life Office on Nov. 12-13. Additional details are available at https://www.facebook.com/events/342545882501139.
