NKU to Host Free Public Reading by Ky. Poet Laureate Maureen Morehead

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University Friends of Steely Library and Department of English will present a free public lecture by Kentucky Poet Laureate Maureen Morehead on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. in the Steely Library Eva G. Farris Reading Room.

Morehead will read and discuss her Civil War poems, which are based on journals kept by women during the war. She will also read from her latest collection, Late August Blues: The Daylily Poems. Morehead is the author of four other books: In a Yellow Room, Our Brothers’ War, A Sense of Time Left and A Melancholy Teacher. Her reading will be followed by a signing and reception.

The event is free and open to the public.
