There are various combinations of courses that students can combine to complete the Honors College curriculum. By working with the Honors advisors, it is possible to make the curriculum fit with any NKU major.

Upon acceptance into the Honors College, students must complete the following requirements:

  • 8 Honors courses before graduation
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA and Honors GPA of at least 3.25

Students who successfully complete these requirements earn the distinction of University Honors Scholar on their diploma and transcript.

The Honors College curriculum provides curious, motivated students the opportunity to actively engage in their learning experience and ultimately graduate as University Honors Scholars. In the Honors classroom, students have the opportunity to lead course discussions, collaborate with their peers through the exchange of diverse points of view, and critically evaluate information for innovative problem solving.

Honors learning doesn't end in the classroom. Students can enrich their academic work though studying abroad, participating in service learning projects, and applying what they are learning to real world situations.

Students begin their Honors journey with two courses that focus on the introduction to interdisciplinary studies, research processes, and transitioning to college.

As students progress through the Honors College, they take four upper-level Honors courses that emphasize research methods, community, and citizenship.

The capstone process allows students to pursue their passion while demonstrating the skills they have aquired throughout their Honors experience.
