NKU Honors Castellini as Master Entrepreneur

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University and the Haile/US Bank College of Business Fifth Third Bank Entrepreneurship Institute honored Robert H. Castellini as the 2013 Master Entrepreneur on Feb. 20.

More than 300 students and guests attended the black-tie Master Entrepreneur Award Ceremony honoring the lifelong Greater Cincinnati resident for his strong support of entrepreneurial education. Castellini serves as chairman of the Castellini Group of Companies and has owned the Cincinnati Reds since 2006.

“This evening is about inspiring the students,” said Castellini. “There is nothing more important than fostering and growing the entrepreneurial spirit of our youth and of those within our community. Entrepreneurs are the future of our community, of our economy and our nation. Entrepreneurs create jobs and jobs create community. The entrepreneurial spirit is what our nation is built upon. And it is what will keep our nation growing and strong into the future. The Master Entrepreneur Award celebrates this. I am honored to be selected for this award.”

The event showcased Castellini’s life and contribution to the region and gave NKU students the opportunity to meet and network with entrepreneurs as well as business and civic leaders. “This event was one that I will remember for the rest of my life,” said Hala Alsaeed a business administration pre- major. “It was remarkable. I am thankful that I had an opportunity to meet local business leaders and to hear Mr. Castellini speak. He was inspiring.”

An important criterion for the award is that the individual has developed successful ventures in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area and has exhibited solid evidence of giving back to our community. As students performed their research on the many important and successful candidates in the area, Castellini’s success in business, careful stewardship of the beloved Reds and generous philanthropy quickly distinguished him.

An exclusive honor, the Master Entrepreneur Award is chosen by NKU entrepreneurship students after careful due diligence. The students’ choice is then evaluated and ultimately approved by members of the institute’s advisory board. Granted since 2006, past winners include Jeff Osterfeld of Penn Station; Dan Baker of Baker Concrete; Ray Mueller of Comair; Vickie Buyniski Gluckman of United Medical Resources; Bill Butler of Corporex; Roger Griggs of Union Springs; and Donna Salyers of Fabulous Furs.
