05/25/21 - COVID-19 Privacy Reminders

To: Faculty, Staff and Students
From: Interim Provost Ande Durojaiye
Date:  5/25/21
Subject: COVID-19 Privacy Reminders

Dear Campus Community,

We hope you’re enjoying the summer. NKU recently updated its masking policy to reflect the updated CDC guidelines for those who are fully vaccinated. This is due to a greater percent of the population receiving vaccinations, but we ask that you continue to keep a few things in mind.

  • Masking
While masking requirements have been lifted, individuals may choose to continue to wear their mask while on campus.  Do not assume masked individuals are not vaccinated. Individuals may choose to continue to wear a mask for a variety of reasons.
  • Don’t Ask about Vaccination Status
Getting the COVID-19 vaccination is strongly encouraged, but it is not required. Vaccination is a personal choice, so please respect the privacy of your colleagues by refraining from asking about their vaccination status. Asking colleagues about their vaccination status may cause them to feel pressured to share personal or private information.

Please also remember, Health, Counseling and Student Wellness has plenty of vaccines available free of charge, and Kentucky residency is not required. Call 859-572-5650 or email hcsw@nku.edu for an appointment. More information about vaccines can be found in NKU’s vaccination FAQs, and the university also has created a COVID-19 vaccination dashboard to track vaccination rates in the region.

Thanks for all you do for our campus community, and enjoy the summer.

Sincerely,
Ande Durojaiye

Interim Provost and
Executive Vice Presient for Academic Affairs
