Whether you are currently on campus or returning during our phased plans to reopen for Fall 2020, all NKU community members are required to adhere to the Norse Nine principles to ensure the safety of our community.

Phase 1:
June 15-July 3

Students:  Summer classes continue through remote instruction. Select student workers on campus or working remotely.

Academics:  Summer classes continue through remote instruction.

Faculty and Staff:  Those needed to maintain current campus operations and to prepare for an increase in operations may be on campus. Others working remotely. Select student workers on campus or working remotely.

Research and Creative Activities:  Researchers and artists work remotely with a few exceptions, approved by the respective dean.

Athletics:  Designated staff and student athletes.

Events/Student Activities:  No in-person events. Please see our Norse Nine guidelines.

Visitors:  Campus closed to outside visitors.

Phase 2:
July 6-Aug 14

Students:  Summer classes continue through remote instruction. Select student workers on campus or working remotely. Begin staggered return of students to residence halls.

Academics:  Summer classes continue through remote instruction.

Faculty and Staff:  Those needed to maintain current campus operations will be on campus. Staggered return of faculty and staff whose work directly supports the return of students. Select student workers on campus or working remotely. Faculty report to work on August 10 and participate in convocations, meetings, and Norse Educators Summit in a mostly remote fashion. Some meetings may be held in person, subject to approval by the appropriate dean.

Research and Creative Activities:  Staggered return of researchers and artists as approved by the appropriate dean.

Athletics:  Continued staggered return of staff and student athletes.

Events/Student Activities:  No in-person events. See the NKU Norse Nine safety guidelines.

Visitors:  Beginning August 1, visitors will be allowed on campus. However, they must follow state guidelines, wear facial coverings and maintain physical distance. Those experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms should not visit campus. Campus tours may be scheduled for limited numbers of people (virtual tours remain available).

Phase 3:
Aug 17-Dec 20

Students:  Students on campus for fall semester classes.

  • In-person, hybrid and online instruction through Tuesday, November 24.
  • Classes will resume on Monday, November 30 and will be held via remote instruction only.
  • Final exam week will be conducted online/remotely.
  • Information about moving out of residence halls will be forthcoming.
  • Information about fall commencement will be forthcoming.

Academics:  Fall semester classes in session.
