As the university navigates the rapidly changing environment in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we know there are many questions about how NKU will continue to be impacted. As we move to online instruction to promote social distancing, we also are focused on the wellbeing of our staff.
To this end, we are encouraging supervisors to provide flexibility to staff so that they may work from home if possible. This procedure is effective today– Monday, March 16, 2020– until further notice, in response to the COVID-19 prevention suggestions made by the Centers for Disease Control and by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Here are the guidelines for NKU’s Alternative Work Arrangements to promote social distancing:
These are extreme times, and we are working to find flexible solutions to keep our campus community safe and healthy. We also don’t want to cause any undue financial worry for our employees. We are launching a temporary pay process that will keep staff in a full pay status through the end of April, and we will assess any changes that may be needed for May as we are closer to that month. While NKU will remain open, we are reviewing where we can limit hours and access to university buildings consistent with reduced staffing levels.
As a regional leader, it is our duty to ensure that we are acting in the best interest of our employees as well as the students and community we serve.
