Official transcripts from ALL colleges or universities attended must be submitted to NKU as part of the transfer application.
All applicants with foreign university-level course work must have their transcripts professionally evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. These course-by-course evaluations must include the U.S. equivalencies for number of credit hours, grades attained, overall GPA, and degree awarded (if applicable).
Students transferring fewer than 24 credit hours or 36 quarter hours of coursework (excluding developmental or remedial coursework as determined by NKU) must also submit their high school transcripts as part of their application. Please refer to the International Freshman Admissions page for guidance.
International Transfer applicants must submit ONE of the following in order to demonstrate the required level of English language fluency:
Your official score reports must be sent directly to Northern Kentucky University (NKU). For minimum score requirements, please refer to our English Proficiency Standards.
If you do not meet NKU’s English proficiency requirement, you may be given conditional admission to a degree program pending your completion of our American English Language Program. More information can be found here.
In order to receive the I-20 form, which you will show to the consulate to obtain your visa, you must prove that you can pay the 9 month cost of attendance at NKU, which is currently $31,017 for the 2017-2018 school year (summer not included). If dependents (son, daughter, wife, or husband) will accompany you while you are studying at NKU, you will need to provide proof of an additional $6,000 for your spouse and/or $3,000 for each child that you plan to bring with you. The Dependent Request Form will need to be submitted along with your bank statement and NKU Financial Agreement Form.
International Student and Scholar Services at NKU now uses an online service called E-ship Global that will allow you to receive your admissions packet and I-20 through an express mail carrier. You must use the website provided below - do NOT go to the UPS/DHL/Fedex website directly.
This service is at your expense, and your credit card will be charged when you sign up. We cannot ship your admissions packets until your reigstration is complete. Please click here to sign up.
