Jerry Armelli, M.Ed. took his first ballet class at the age of 19 where under a scholarship he began intensive training at the School of Cleveland Ballet under the instruction of Roni Mahler, Daniel Job and Nicole Sowinska. While training in his hometown of Cleveland, Jerry was cast in supernumerary roles for Cleveland/San Jose Ballet Companies. He continued his ballet training while on scholarship at University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music broadening his dance style, technique and expanding his performance repertoire. While a student a CCM he was cast as the Nutcracker in the Cincinnati/ New Orleans City Ballet, The Nutcracker. He graduated CCM with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance (ballet emphasis) studying under James Truitte, Oleg Sabline, David Blackburn and Denise Warner-Lemoli.
Jerry has been an adjunct professor at the University of Northern Kentucky University since 2007 where he instructs ballet and Lester Horton techniques.
He has dance various roles in De la Dance Companies productions at the Aronoff Center for the Arts and their Studio Theater including, Cinderella (Step-sister), Nutcracker (Rat King) and Giselle (Hilarion).
Jerry is resident choreographer for Northern Kentucky’s Merit Theater Company.
He and his wife, Mia have owned and operated The Dance Center in Independence, Kentucky since 1995 where he also teaches ballet and Lester Horton technique classes on various levels.
