SOTA Saturdays is a regular virtual open house for NKU’s School of the Arts. This is an opportunity for potential students to learn a little more about SOTA to help make your decision for where to best develop your creative potential to the fullest! Parents, you are invited too! Area K-12 art, music, and theatre teachers, we hope this will be an opportunity for you to learn about some of the great opportunities we have to offer you and your students here in SOTA as well! All are welcome and we hope all will be entertained and enlightened!

April 3, 2021: Alumni Edition, Part 2

We speak with some of our amazing alumni who have graduated from our programs about their successes in fields outside the arts. The expansive skillset that comes with a degree in the arts prepares our students to pursue the arts as a career, but also to use the arts in their profession in whatever field that may be! We’ll hear their lasting impressions of SOTA and also how they leveraged what they learned in their degree tracks in surprising and expansive ways that have led them to fulfilling careers.

We speak with some of our amazing alumni who have graduated from our programs about their successes in their fields of study. We'll talk to: Denise Devlin (BFA Theatre Performance 2001), Ken Early (BA Theatre Arts 1996), Natasha Pence (Piano Pedagogy Certificate, 2012), Kayla Upthegrove (BM Music Performance - Jazz Studies 2019), Cameron and Brittany Everage (BME Music Education – Instrumental 2018), Matt Overwine (BFA Visual Communication Design 2010), and Madeline Walker (BFA New Media Art 2014).

Feb. 20, 2021: Theatre & Dance Program

NKU's School of the Arts is home to the largest theatre program in the state of Kentucky. With excellent mentorship, proximity to Cincinnati's bustling arts scene, and multiple production opportunities, we are your home for artistic growth and career development. Following a live virtual tour of the Theatre & Dance facilities with SOTA Director Matt Albritton and Theatre & Dance Program Head Michael Hatton, learn more about becoming a major, auditions & scholarships, as well as creative opportunities of study in our program. We’ll end with a conversation with current Theatre & Dance students who will share their experiences and answer your questions.

Feb. 13, 2021: Visual Arts Program

The Visual Arts Program Highlight! We have amazing facilities, award-winning faculty, and the perfect size and location to engage in the city of Cincinnati with networking and career growth. Following a live virtual tour of the Visual Arts facilities with SOTA Director Matt Albritton and Visual Arts Program Head Brad McCombs, learn more about applying, scholarships, and creative opportunities of study in our program. We’ll end with a conversation with current visual arts students who will share their experiences and answer your questions.

Feb. 6, 2021: Music Program

The Music Program in SOTA hits that sweet Allegro spot! We have amazing facilities, award-winning faculty, and the perfect size and location. Our graduates are armed with an expansive music education with the vital skills and tools needed to excel in a wide variety of careers. Following a live virtual tour of the Music facilities with SOTA Director Matt Albritton and Music Program Head Kimberly Lazzeri, learn more about applying, auditioning, scholarships, and programming. Then, we’ll have a conversation with current music students who will share their experiences and answer your questions.

Jan. 30, 2021: Q&A and Atrium Tour

Thinking of applying to NKU/SOTA? Have questions? Matt will talk about the expansive benefits of an arts education and answer your questions. Also, Matt will take you on a virtual tour of SOTA’s newest space, the SOTA Community Outreach Atrium. This is a newly-renovated public gallery space where we will host special community exhibitions, area K-12 art clubs, and all manner of installations to inspire community conversations. The current exhibition showcases the MCRC project.
