Covid-19 Update

The Office of Outreach is pleased to announce our upcoming workshops will be happening in an in-person and webcast format. Attendees will automatically be registered for the event in both formats. As concerns about COVID-19 continue, flex registration will allow each person to choose which way they would like to attend the workshops.

We look forward to seeing you in-person and online as we provide insight into current local and national economies, and address topics of interest to the community, region, and state.

Course Overview

The purpose of the course is to inspire managers to become innovative in their managerial techniques.

The course will develop the capacity to recruit and create team dynamics among your employees. Using coaching to optimize your management and develop leadership among your team (Coaching Class) is a Human Resource program dedicated to developing the skills of life coaching in a business setting. The course is set as a workshop that will allow participants to optimize the process of creating and managing a roster.

Course Format

This is a face-to-face workshop in which participants will be asked to engage in activities as well as discussions in addition to the traditional lecture given by the instructor. 

More specifically, the class will start with a brief theoretical approach and examples, before students engage in discussions and implementations. Participants will be split into smaller groups at times in order to work on their own companies.

Discussions will focus on managerial concepts such as organizational behavior, industrial psychology, motivation, needs, goals, leadership, etc. and will allow participants to learn from each other through best practices.

Meet the Instructor

Yohann Mauger

Yohann Mauger, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Management at Northern Kentucky University and the CEO of Hive Skills, a consulting firm for professional sports organizations pioneering soft skills assessments and culture implementation.

Biography Continued

He holds a Ph.D. in Management with a focus on Organizational Behavior. His current research interests are focused on Strategy and individuals’ behavior in different fields including sports, banking, steel, as well as services and automotive.

His academic work on coach-to-player fit, value, coachability and talent development have been presented at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, European Management Conference and other specialized conferences around the world.

In addition to his academic experience, he is the founder of Hive Skills, a company specialized on the relationship between coaches and players in professional sports organizations. He currently works with teams in the US, France, England, Argentina, etc. with his methodology being implemented in Major League Soccer clubs and academies.

As a certified mental coach, he works with professional and college athletes around the world. Some of his clients play or coach for teams like FC Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Columbus Crew, Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders, SM Caen, Louisville City FC and include Colleges like Louisville, Northwestern, Michigan State, Akron, and UNC Chapel Hill.

Prior to his academic career, he worked for 8 years as the VP of Research and European project management for a French government agency dedicated to giving strategic advice to companies and public organizations.

He has been a consultant and/or a keynote speaker for companies like Credit Agricole, Mercedes, Philips, Adidas, Double A, and Bosch  in France, the US, the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, England, as well as countries in Africa and South America.

Yohann is born and raised in the region of Normandy, France. He currently leaves in Akron, OH with his wife Devon.
